Medical Coder

Specialty: Any (ED, E/M, Surgery, Radiology, Anesthesia, HCC, etc.)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Medical Coder to review clinical documentation and assign accurate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes. You will ensure compliance, reduce denials, and support revenue integrity.

Responsibilities

• Review patient charts, operative reports, physician notes
• Assign ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS codes according to payer guidelines
• Ensure coding accuracy, completeness, and compliance
• Work with auditors and coding leads to resolve discrepancies
• Identify documentation gaps and communicate with providers
• Maintain productivity and accuracy standards

Requirements

• Certification: CPC, COC, CCS, or equivalent (preferred)
• 1–3+ years of coding experience
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, Modifiers, NCCI edits
• Familiarity with E/M guidelines, DRGs, HCCs, or specialty-specific rules
• Experience with EMR/EHR systems (Epic, Cerner, Athena, etc.)

• Multi-specialty coding experience
• Prior auditing exposure
• Strong analytical and documentation skills
